Configuring Outlook Express for the first time
(These are directions for basic mail set up. Depending
on your version of the software some things may appear
differently.)
If
you start Outlook Express and it starts a "Configuration
Wizard" just follow the wizard and enter the
information below when requested.
- Name: (i.e. Joe
User)
- E-mail Address:
(i.e. username@speednetllc.com)
- Mail server: "POP3"
- Incoming Mail
Server[POP3]: "mail.speednetllc.com"
- Outgoing Mail
Server[SMTP]: "mail.speednetllc.com"
- Account Name: your
"username" (without
"@speednetllc.com")
- Password: your
"password"
With these settings
configured you will be able to send and receive mail
after connecting to Speednet.
If you already have
Outlook Express configured for an e-mail account
elsewhere or just want to change it to a Speednet
configuration, follow the steps for
Verifying Your Configuration. |
Verifying Your Configuration
- Open Outlook
Express.
- Click on the "Tools"
option at the top.
- Select "Accounts"
from the list.
- When the window
appears, click on the "Mail" tab at the top.
- Enter "mail.speednetllc.com"
- If your Speednet
Mail is not configured, go to
Configuring Outlook Express for the first time.
- Select your Speednet
account and click "Properties" on the right.
- Under the "General"
Tab:
- Verify that your
name and e-mail address are correct.
- Confirm selection
of the "Include this account when doing a full
Send and Receive" option at the bottom.
- Filling in the
"Organization" or "Reply-to" boxes is not necessary.
- Under the "Servers"
Tab:
- Verify that your
incoming mail server is a "POP3" server and
that you have "mail.speednetllc.com" in the "Incoming
Mail" box.
- Verify that you
have "mail.speednetllc.com" in the "Outgoing Mail"
box.
- Under the "Incoming
Mail Server," verify that your username is
correct. It is wise to retype in the password. You
may also wish to select "Remember password."
Nothing under the
"Security", "Connection" or "Advanced" tabs needs to be
changed. You may click OK back through all the windows
to get back to Outlook Express.
We suggest shutting
down and restarting Outlook Express just to make sure
that the setting are reloaded. |
