Configuring Netscape Mail Settings (These are
directions for basic mail set up. Depending on your
version of the software some things may appear
differently.)
Netscape 4.7 and
earlier
- Open a Netscape
Communicator window.
- Choose "Edit",
and then "Preferences."
- Click on the "+"
sign next to "Mail & Newsgroups"
to expand the structure of the Category section.
This window shows some general settings for
Netscape Messenger.
- Next to "Your
Name," enter your name as you want it to
appear when sending e-mails (i.e. Joe User).
- Next to "E-mail
Address" enter your e-mail address (i.e.
username@speednetllc.com)
- It is not
necessary to fill in the "Reply-to Address."
- Click on the "Mail
Servers" section on the left.
- To set your "Incoming
Mail Server" click on "Add"
to insert a new mail server, or "Edit"
to check the settings of your current mail
settings.
- The "Incoming
Mail Server" is "mail.speednetllc.com".
- In the "Outgoing
Mail (SMTP) Server" area, enter "mail.speednetllc.com".
Netscape 6.0 and
higher
- Open the
Netscape Mail Program.
- Choose "Edit",
and then "Mail & Newsgroup Account
Settings."
- Next to "Your
Name," enter your name as you want it to
appear when sending e-mails (i.e. Joe User).
- Next to "E-mail
Address" enter your e-mail address (i.e.
username@speednetllc.com).
- It is not
necessary to fill in the "Reply-to Address" or the
"Organization" sections.
- Click on the "Server
Settings" section on the left.
- Select "POP3"
for the server type.
- The "Incoming
Mail Server" is "mail.speednetllc.com".
- The "User
Name" is your Speednet username (without
@speednetllc.com).
- Click on the "Outgoing
Server" section on the left.
- The "Outgoing
Mail (SMTP) Server" is "mail.speednetllc.com"
