Recently, SpeedNet has requested you collect activation fees and a pro-rated monthly fee prior to handing out any equipment. After speaking with several of you, we will revise this policy. It was suggested by many of the authorized agents to simplify this process by collecting the activation fee ONLY and keeping it as a pre-commission payment.
The new policy is: when handing out equipment you should collect a $50 activation fee. You will keep this payment. Should the customer return the modem within 3 business days, you may refund the payment. Should the customer keep the modem, I will deduct $50 from your commission payment.
Modems will still not be on until you contact us to activate it.
I hope this makes the process easier for everyone.
For all Line of Sight modems to be used in our Saginaw and Bad Axe markets, the price will now be $99 + tax and will be phone-ready. We will no longer be carrying the internet-only modems priced at $70.75 + tax.
We will continue to offer the internet-only modem in the Alpena and Traverse City markets until further notice.
SpeedNet pricing for the NLOS equipment (RSU's and OSU's) has now been lowered!
RSU options:
$7.00/mo AND $50 activation fee
OR
$189 + tax AND NO activation fee
OSU options:
$7.00/mo AND $100 activation fee (includes standard installation)
OR
$289 + tax AND NO activation fee (includes standard installation)
Essentially, this means you can avoid the $7 lease fee for an RSU for around $140 and the $7 lease fee for an OSU for around $190. Therefore, the payoff for the RSU is about 20 months and the OSU is about 28 months. After that point, the customer will be ahead.
Until further notice SpeedNet will not be adding new subscribers to the Clio Access Point. This is a temporary policy, so please keep a list of customers so you can contact them when the suspension is lifted.

Phone sales made during the first quarter of 2008 will count toward ticket accumulation for the Vegas trip.
Effective Immediately, 2008 Billing Options...
1. Our first preference is to auto bill a credit card. Customer will not receive a paper bill.
2. Send the customer an e-mail statement to a speednetllc.com domain address – encourage / train the customer to pay via the web site new self serve availability – or they can print and send in with payment.
3. We will mail a statement for $1.50 per month, effective for all new subscribers who choose this option.

All telephone subscribers must read, sign and date the Terms and Conditions form and read, complete and sign the 911 Registration form. The 911 Registration form must be complete and legible, including the Township and County fields. If they live within the city limits, write "city" in the Township field.
Customers who wish to port their telephone number, must complete the LOA Porting form, but MUST NOT DATE IT at the top or the bottom. Also, we will require a copy of the front page of their phone bill, showing the name, address, account number and phone number (we do not need the bill copy for AT&T customers).

One authorized agent will get to take a guest to Vegas on SpeedNet! You will have the chance to win free air fare and lodging for you and a guest to Las Vegas. The winner will be drawn at the close of the 1st quarter of 2008 (03/31/08). The more orders you turn in during the 1st quarter, the greater your chances of winning!
You must turn in 30 orders between January 01 and March 31, 2008 to get your first ticket. You will receive an additional ticket for each additional 5 orders turned in. At the end of the first quarter, all tickets will be put in a hat and a winner will be drawn. For example, if you have 30 orders, you will get 1 ticket. If you have 35, you will get 2. If you have 45, you will get 4. To qualify as an order, the address must pass our prequalification tool and the customer must either take an RSU home (with a qualifying score) or have a SpeedNet technician attempt an installation.

Until further notice, SpeedNet is not charging an activation fee or installation fee for our Unilimited Telephone Service. The standard activation fee is $10 for a self-install or $60 for a SpeedNet-install.
The activation fee for SpeedNet Internet still applies.
SpeedNet must have the customer's Social Security Number or a photocopy of their driver's license before they are activated. It is your responsibility to obtain this information before handing the customer any equipment.
For customers that require a SpeedNet installation (LOS and most OSU): If you do not have a secure method to transfer their information to us, you should inform the customer we will be asking for their SSN before scheduling an installation.
